Scheduling courses is one of the most important tasks a high school student does.  They need to meet requirements, challenge themselves, and meet their interests. 

We have added several new courses over the last couple of years including: Introduction to Computer Science, Competitive Fitness, Topics in Biomedical Sciences, Topics in the American Revolution, World Religions, Holocaust, Forensics, Creative Writing/Film as Literature, Topics in Philosophy, International English Grammar, Marine Biology, and Professional Math. 

We also have access to the entire Missouri State University course catalog if you qualify...see below.

GRADUATION INFORMATION

Graduation Exhibition– Seniors must master all components of this rigorous project including: a comprehensive research paper, a related community service project, and a final public presentation.  The exhibition is scored on the written paper, public speaking, critical thinking, research methodology, a comparative media presentation, and a verbal defense to a panel of judges.

Differentiated Diplomas

State of Missouri HS Diploma: Requirements include 24 credits established by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Greenwoods Public Affairs Scholars Diploma: Requirements for the high school diploma, plus two (2) additional credits totaling 26.  Graduates must also master the Graduation Exhibition, including all components.

Greenwoods Public Affairs Scholars Diploma with Endorsements:  Requirements for the Scholars Diploma with additional merits earned in one of the following areas: Natural and Applied Sciences, Humanities, and Arts and Letters.  Merit qualifications are given to the students by the counselor and are reviewed annually by our departments.

Missouri State University Concurrent Enrollment 

We have a unique opportunity as a laboratory school on campus to have our students concurrently enroll at Missouri State University.

  • To qualify, we prefer you be a junior or senior, although extreme circumstances have allowed  sophomores. 

  • Students must also have an ACT score of 21 or SAT score of 1070 or an individual review of your PSAT scores. 

  • Students must follow these steps to be considered: 

  • Qualify through the above conditi ons 

  • Fill out the online application at PreCollege App

  • Bring in your application to Mrs. Ewing to finish completing and to receive a copy of your transcript/test scores 

  • Take it to the Advising Office located at University Hall Room 109

  • Our college adviser will then send you an email approving your application (if you qualify) More information can be found HERE.

  • Schedule your class on MyMissouriState with Mrs. Mrs. Ewing to make sure it fits into your Greenwood schedule.

  • You are now concurrently enrolled!

FAQ's: 

DUAL CREDIT COURSES

Greenwood instructors have been teaching upper level courses at the collegiate level for years, and now students will have the option of receiving college credit for those courses.  Below are the courses that we will be offering Dual Credit through Missouri State University. 

Advanced Chemistry (CHM 160/161), Advanced Physics (PHY 123), Pre-Calculus I and II (MTH 136), Spanish III (SPN 201), French III (FRN 201), Advanced Biology (BIO 120/121), English III (ENG 110), and Anatomy & Physiology (BMS 110) Advanced Earth Science (GLG 110)

Process

  • Students will be given Dual Credit Applications in class. 

  • The cost is $70 per credit hour (discounted rate).

  • Students must turn in their application and money before the deadline to receive credit. 

  • It is DUAL credit, so the grades and credits they will receive go on their college AND high school transcript.  Their grade WILL factor into their High School GPA.

  • This is a very exciting opportunity for our students!

OTC & Internships

We are also forming a partnership with OTC and their Career Center.  If you are interested please contact Mrs. Ewing at 417-836-5950. 

Internships are based typically at school, on campus, or we encourage our interns to work in field of their study at local businesses and companies.
